Garbage Truck Driver Dies Due To Fatigue, Pramono: Indication Of Heart Disease
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the case of the death of a garbage truck driver from the South Jakarta Environmental Agency who was said to be exhausted after waiting long to dismantle the cargo at the Bantargebang TPST.
Pramono said he had received an initial report regarding the victim's condition before the incident. Apparently, the driver also has a history of heart disease.
"I received a direct report from the Mayor of South Jakarta regarding this matter. Indeed, it is also indicated that there is a heart disease," Pramono said when met in Penjaringan, South Jakarta, Monday, December 8.
The DKI Provincial Government ensures that administrative handling and support for the victims' families have been provided. Pramono stated that the assistance includes compensation from related agencies and labor guarantees.
"I have asked because he was working and then died to be given maximum compensation," he said.
He added that the entire compensation process had been distributed, including from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Pramono admitted that he directly followed the progress of handling the case.
"Yesterday it was handled, given maximum compensation both by the relevant agencies and also by BPJS, Employment. It has been handled, I happen to monitor it," he said.
For information, a garbage truck driver named Wahyudi from the South Jakarta LH Sub-Department reportedly died after queuing for too long to unload the garbage cargo to the Bantar Gebang TPST on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Based on information from fellow drivers, the queue for unloading cargo at Bantar Gebang can last very long, even up to 20 hours. The long queue process was accused of causing fatigue which resulted in the driver's death.
