Disaster Victims In North Sumatra Increase To 330 People, 12 Regions Record Death Rate

JAKARTA - The number of fatalities due to natural disasters that hit several areas in North Sumatra Province has increased again. Based on the latest report from the North Sumatra Center for Disaster Management Operations Control (Pusdalops PB), as of Sunday, at 17.00 WIB, the total number of victims who died was recorded at 330 people.

This figure increased by 12 people compared to the previous data on Saturday (6/12) at 08.00 WIB which recorded 318 deaths.

Data Pusdalops shows victims spread across 12 of the 18 affected districts/cities. Some areas with the highest number of victims include:

Central Tapanuli: 102 people

South Tapanuli: 85 people

Sibolga City: 53 people

North Tapanuli: 36

Deliserdang: 17 people

Medan City: 12 people

Langkat: 11 people

Other areas that also recorded fewer victims, including Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, Nias, Padangsidimpuan, and South Nias.

"This data is a temporary update until December 7, 2025 at 17.00 WIB," said Head of Emergency Management, Equipment and Logistics of the North Sumatra BPBD, Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati.

He said that handling in the field was still being carried out by the local government together with a joint team and related policy makers.

"The development of the victim's situation and data will continue to be updated along with the evacuation process and emergency handling," he said.

In addition to casualties, Pusdalops also noted that the total affected areas include 18 regencies/cities, including Medan City, Tebingtinggi, Binjai, Padangsidimpuan, Sibolga, to Mandailing Natal.
