Apple's Head Of Chip Division Johny Srouji Reportedly Consider Leaving

JAKARTA - Apple has been hit again by rumors about the reshuffle of its executive ranks. This time the news targeted one of the most important figures in the company's technological journey: Johny Srouji, Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies as well as major architect of Apple Silicon's chips.

The latest report states that Srouji is considering leaving the company in the near future, adding to a series of speculations about Apple's leadership stability.

Bloomberg reports that Srouji has informed Apple CEO Tim Cook of his intention to step down. He is said to have also told a number of his colleagues that he intends to join other companies if he really leaves Apple, although there is no information about which company is his goal. When confirmed, Apple declined to comment.

If the rumors are true, Srouji's departure would be a huge loss for Apple. Since joining in 2008, Srouji has been responsible for developing a world-class chip that is the backbone of Apple's devices, including the monumental transition from Intel processor to Apple Silicon which is now being used on Macs and most of the company's devices. Its influence is so significant that Srouji's absence is expected to affect Apple's chip development direction in the coming generations.

However, these rumors are also considered odd by a number of observers. Apart from the absence of strong indications or official statements, the report comes close to a series of news of Apple's other executive departures, sparking wild speculation without solid fact support. Doubts also arise due to age factors: at 61 years, Srouji is considered more likely to last until retirement than to start a new chapter in other companies.

Speculation about Srouji is also considered as part of the hyperbolic news trend that is currently hitting Apple, especially since discussions about who will replace Tim Cook as CEO are getting busier. The news circulating has made every small rumor a trigger for opinion, although there is minimal concrete evidence.

Rumors of Srouji's departure coincided with a number of official announcements regarding changes to Apple's management. On December 1, Apple announced that John Giannandrea, SVP Machine Learning and AI Strategy, would retire and be replaced by Amar Subramanya.

Giannandrea will remain in the company until spring 2026. Shortly after, Alan Dye 'Deputy President of Human Interface Design who has worked at Apple for nearly two decades' was announced to be joining Meta as Chief Design Officer as of December 31, with Steve Lemay taking over at Apple.

The series of news was added to the news of the retirement of Lisa Jackson, VP Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, as well as Kate Adams, Apple's legal adviser since 2017. Both are said to be leaving their positions in 2026.

Even so, Apple remains a giant company with 164,000 employees worldwide. Shifts in leadership structures, although significant, remain part of the company's dynamics of the size of Apple. The departure of individuals can have an effect, but the turnover of talent is also unavoidable.

Until this news was published, there had been no confirmation from Apple regarding rumors about Johny Srouji. But if it is true that he wants to resign, the public can expect an official statement given how strategic his position and contribution to the company is.
