JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak became the talk of netizens after his statement regarding Starlink services that used credit to access it.

This statement came after allegations of illegal levies (extortion) were reported by several Acehnese and Sumatran, to be able to use Elon Musk's satellite-based internet service, which should have been provided free of charge.

"About Starlink, it's indeed equipment from the Ministry of Defense and us as well. Indeed, the credit doesn't know who wants to pay," Maruli said during a press conference, quoted on Thursday, December 4.

This statement then became debated because basically Starlink services did not use credit, but instead took advantage of the official method-based subscription and payment system.

To obtain Starlink services, customers must have a VSAT (kit) device, then pay service subscription fees through payment methods such as credit cards, debits (Visa or Mastercard) or online banking methods.
