Kemelut Di PBNU, Yahya Cholil Staquf Open Untuk Islah

JAKARTA - PBNU General Chair KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf or who is often called Gus Yahya stated that he was open to Islam, which was conveyed after attending the PBNU friendship in the second session at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang Regency, East Java.

"I am very grateful that he and he are willing to call me. I am very touched that our elders still care so much about this Nahdlatul Ulama clock," he said in a written statement as reported by Antara on Sunday, December 7.

In the forum, Gus Yahya admitted that he had the opportunity to fully explain the various organizational problems that had been addressed to him.

According to him, he had answered all the clarification needs previously conveyed through Rais Aam's envoy. The explanation was also accompanied by documents from the General Treasurer of PBNU Sumantri Suwarno and Secretary General Amin Said Husni.

"Everything I have answered completely, equipped with explanations from Sumantri's brother as the holder of the BPNU financial book ... as well as explanations from Mr. Amin Said Husni," he explained.

He also left a special message to the kiai regarding the future of the NU organizational order.

He emphasized that he and the PBNU ranks from the start were solemn with sincere intentions, so it is important to maintain the structure that has been inherited by the founders.

"Please consider the future of the order of the Nahdlatul Ulama organization, this order effort does not collapse in the middle of the road," he said.

He also reminded that since the beginning NU was established with strict rules and structures. Even Rais Akbar Hadratussyekh KH Hasyim Asy'ari, his authority is also limited by the articles of association.

"So let's think about staying well so that this order is not torn down and bringing this clock back 100 years," he said.

Regarding the statement that the meeting at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, did not affect the minutes of the syuriyah meeting, Gus Yahya assessed that the daily gathering of syuriyah had problems from the start.

"Whether it's influence or not, please. But it has become the perception that what happened to the syuriyah daily is very problematic, making decisions beyond his authority. So this is problematic. All of his follow-ups from this decision are all problematic," he said.

He also criticized the plan of the PBNU Plenary Meeting on December 9, 2025, which was said to have based on the problematic decision.

"If it is based on the daily meeting of syuriyah on November 20, 2025, it means that it is based on a problematic decision. Taking over the position of chairman to be concurrent by Rais Aam is very, very problematic," he said.

Gus Yahya also added that he would continue to communicate with senior kiai as well as PWNU and PCNU throughout Indonesia to find the best solution.
