Meghan Markle Returns To Contact Her Critically Sick Father Until Amputated
JAKARTA - Meghan Markle expressed her support for her father, Thomas Markle, after learning the news that her father had to undergo an emergency leg amputation.
The relationship between the two is known to have been strained for a long time. Currently, Thomas is still being treated intensively in the Philippines after experiencing blood clots that cut off blood flow to his feet and made life-saving actions must be taken.
"I can confirm that Meghan has indeed contacted her father," said a spokesman for the Duchess of Sussex, quoted from the InStyle page on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Thomas Markle's son, Thomas Markle Jr., told the Daily Mail that his 81-year-old father had amputated his lower-leg on December 3. Since the beginning of this year, they are known to live in the Philippines.

Thomas Jr. said his father's feet had turned blue, then blackened, before the medical team finally decided to amputate as an action to take.
He also added that in the next two to three days it will be very crucial, because the team of doctors is still monitoring his father's condition, especially to anticipate the risk of infection.
Meghan and her father clashed shortly before Meghan married Prince Harry in 2018. At that time, Meghan accused her father of lying about her involvement with the media, following reports that Thomas had engineered surveillance photos.
Thomas apologized in 2021, after their relationship was discussed in Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In the same week, Meghan Markle also released her latest special show on Netflix entitled With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. In one of the episodes with Christmas nuances, Meghan looks relaxed wearing her voice.
"Today I'm wearing my clothes, friends," said Meghan with a laugh.
"This is how much I love my best friend. Why do I wear my clothes on television shows? Because my friend Lindsay. We've been friends since we were 17 years old, have a family tradition of wearing my clothes together while on vacation." he explained.
