Febriana And Be Patient To Be The Badminton Team Captain At The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA - Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma and Sabar Karyaman Gutama are trusted to be the captain of the Indonesian women's team and son's team at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand which will officially open next week.

Both names are believed to lead the Indonesian badminton team ahead of the team's inaugural training at the Gymnasium 4 Thammasat University Rangsit Campus on Friday, December 6, 2025. The team captain aims to increase the solidity of the Red and White squad starting their journey in the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia.

Febriana is proud to have the trust to lead her colleagues in the women's team number. She is optimistic that her team will be able to compete to win the gold medal.

"It's great to be chosen captain. My friends and I want to show that this women's team team can win a gold medal for Indonesia," Febriana said in a statement received.

On the other hand, gaining the trust of being captain puts his own pressure on Sabar, who will make his debut at the biennial multi-pronged sporting event.

He said that as the most senior player among the squad to go to Thailand, he was ready to take responsibility for leading friends who had given him confidence.

"Hopefully I can guide others and hopefully I can also perform optimally. Cohesiveness and communication with each other will be the key to the success of this team," he said.

Patience and Febriana and colleagues immediately underwent training for an hour after arriving in Thailand on Friday evening. This exercise aims to adapt early and relax stiff muscles.

"This first exercise is used as an initial adaptation before tomorrow it will be finalized. Overall, the field conditions were not too different from the arena at the Thailand Open or Masters," said Sabar.

The 2025 SEA Games badminton competition will take place at the Gymnasium 4 Thammasat University Rangsit Campus on December 6-10 for teams and December 11-14 for individuals.

Indonesia sent 20 athletes there, consisting of ten women and men. They are targeted to bring home two gold medals from the biennial event.
