China To Provide 100 Million US Dollars To Gaza
JAKARTA - The Chinese government will provide assistance worth 100 million US dollars (around Rp1.66 trillion) to the Gaza people to support the reconstruction process.
"Yesterday, President Xi Jinping said China and France would work together to realize a comprehensive, fair, and long-lasting solution for Palestine while announcing China would provide Palestinians with 100 million US dollars in aid to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support its reconstruction," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a news conference in Beijing, Friday, December 5.
French President Emmanuel Macron met President Xi Jinping, Thursday (4/12) in Beijing. One of the discussion agendas is about reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
"It has been more than two years since the conflict in Gaza erupted, which has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. China is deeply concerned about this," added Lin Jian.
Since the conflict broke out, China has sent various humanitarian aids to the Gaza Strip through the United Nations, Egypt, Jordan and various other channels that are welcomed and appreciated by the Palestinian government and people.
"We believe the latest $100 million aid announced by President Xi Jinping and allocated to address the humanitarian crisis and post-conflict reconstruction will help improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people," said Lin Jian.
President Xi Jinping, Lin Jian said, described the Palestinian issue as a test for the effectiveness of the global government system and called on the international community to take a direct look at the root of the problem, take responsibility and decisive action to correct historical injustice and uphold justice and equality.
"China firmly supports the Palestinian people's struggle in restoring their legitimate national rights and will continue to work relentlessly with the international community for a full and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, easing the humanitarian situation there, and the initial political resolution of the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution," Lin Jian explained.
Currently, the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip will enter a second phase as in the US President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan.
The second phase includes the withdrawal of Israel from additional regions in Gaza, the deployment of the International Stabilization Forces (ISF), and the formation of a new government structure, which includes the Trump-led Peace Council.
The structure of this government will be led by the Trump-led Peace Council, consisting of about 10 leaders of Arab and Western countries, according to the report.

In turn, the Palestinian technocratic government will function under the executive board and consist of between 12 and 15 individuals with management and business expertise, none of whom are linked to Hamas, Fatah, as well as other Palestinian parties or factions, the report said.
Currently, the US, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey are involved in talks with Hamas to reach an agreement in which the group will hand over its control over Gaza and start stripping.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed nearly 67,200 Palestinians in the enclave, mostly women and children.
The persistent bombing has left much of Gaza uninhabitable, leading to hunger and widespread disease spread.
