Netflix Eliminates Support For Mobile Transmission To TV, Encourages Users To Use Original Apps

JAKARTA Netflix has quietly removed the ability to transmit film shows or series from mobile phones to smart TV. This feature, usually known as casting, is starting to disappear on a number of devices.

With the casting, users can show content from their Netflix application that is on their phone to TV that is connected to Chromecast or Google Cast. After the show appears on TV, the phone will work as a remote.

The deletion of this feature was not officially announced so users will know about this deletion once they realize their missing features. It is not known for sure why Netflix got rid of this transmission support.

However, as reported by Android Headlines, this removal is most likely done to encourage live streaming through the app on TV. Although not announced live, the Bantuan Netflix Center has discussed this transmission support.

"Netflix no longer supports the transmission of events from mobile devices to most TVs and TV streaming devices," Netflix wrote via the Help Center page, quoted on Friday, December 5.

A number of Reddit users also stated that they saw messages directing them to use TV's built-in remote. Basically, this is the same as users who are encouraged to stream live on the Netflix TV app.

Although some people can still access the feature, this may not last long. By removing transmission support, Netflix also encourages users to switch to Standard or Premium subscription packages.
