So Netizens Months, Erick Thohir Explains The Meaning Of Sports Equipment For Disaster Victims
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir emphasized that the provision of assistance in the form of sports equipment to disaster victims in Sumatra was carried out at the post-disaster stage, not during an emergency response period.
He dismissed the opinion that the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) provided sports equipment assistance in the midst of an emergency. Erick's statement about sports equipment assistance during a disaster emergency became the target of netizens on social media timelines.
"I have already said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will help victims at the post-disaster time. Only if suddenly someone edits it, so hoaxes are said to be at this time, so I can't say anything," said Erick ahead of the release of Thailand's 33rd Sea Games contingent at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard, Friday, December 5.
Erick said in his official statement which is also equipped with a video, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to assisting recovery through the provision of sports equipment.
According to him, the assistance is considered relevant to restore community activities and improve post-disaster health.
Erick said this plan had been coordinated with several relevant ministries.
"At that time I talked to the Coordinating Minister, right after the disaster, the points that needed help were visible. There I also said yesterday that there was Mr. Tito (Minister of Home Affairs), we will also coordinate with the Minister of Public Works (Dody Hanggodo). So the right points we can help," explained Erick.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports will distribute aid according to its duties and functions in the form of sports equipment after the recovery of the impact of the disaster.
