Taiwan: China Runs Military Operations To Deploy Warships Into The South China Sea
JAKARTA - Taiwan on Friday, December 5, said China was carrying out military operations by deploying warships stretching hundreds of kilometers from the Yellow Sea to the South China Sea.
A spokesman for the presidential office Karen Kuo told reporters that Taiwan's Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) and its security agency monitored China's activities and had a "full understanding of the situation".
He did not say how many Chinese warships were involved in the deployment, but a security source told AFP the number was "significant."
The source spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Kuo added that the operation was not limited to the Taiwan Strait, but extends from the southern Yellow Sea, to the East China Sea near the disputed Diaoyu Islands and continues to the South China Sea and even the Western Pacific.
"This does pose a threat and impact to Indo-Pacific and the entire region," said Kuo.
However, China denies any military maneuvers by its country in the territorial waters.
