Caring For Disasters, BYD Moves Quickly To Provide Assistance To Flood-affected Areas

JAKARTA - Large floods hit various regions in Indonesia which of course caused losses, both financially and others. Various elements moved quickly to distribute aid, including from the automotive segment.

BYD distributed emergency response assistance for flood-affected residents in a number of Sumatra areas, in the process, the brand coordinated with local governments and related parties to ensure that aid could be distributed on target and reach families in need in the midst of an emergency situation.

The distribution of aid has started since December 3, 2025, where BYD focuses on reaching areas affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra. In parts of North Sumatra, assistance is given to areas of Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, Mandailing Natal, Langkat, North Tapanuli, and South Tapanuli.

This assistance is provided directly to ensure that basic logistical assistance and urgent needs can be immediately received by disaster-affected communities.

As a symbol of collaboration and seriousness in supporting the acceleration of recovery, BYD donations were handed over directly to representatives of local governments. In the symbolic handover, BYD assistance was received directly by the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, the Head of BNPB North Sumatra, and the Government of Sibolga City.

Meanwhile in West Sumatra, support will be distributed to Padang City, Solok Regency, and Padang Panjang Regency where direct coordination with the West Sumatra Provincial Government and special distribution together with the Mayor of Padang.

BYD will also send aid to the Aceh region in several affected areas that are still ongoing this week. Overall, the support that has been distributed by BYD Indonesia for the North Sumatra region reaches around 1 billion rupiah, which is then continued with the distribution of aid to the Provinces of West Sumatra and Aceh.

With this expansion of the reach, the total assistance distributed reaches around 1.5 billion rupiah, where this assistance includes basic food and basic necessities aimed at supporting families to meet their daily needs during the recovery period.

President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Eagle Zhao, said the company extends its deepest condolences to all families affected by natural disasters in the Sumatra region.

"We understand how difficult the situation must be for many residents, from evacuating to meeting daily needs in the midst of a very limited condition. Therefore, BYD strives to be present as soon as possible to provide assistance that can support fundamental needs. We hope that conditions in the affected areas can recover soon and people can return to their activities properly," he said, in his official statement, Friday, December 5.
