Ministry Of Transportation Arranges Mobilization At Merak-Bakauheni Port During Nataru, Check Out The Details

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation has arranged the movement of people's transportation and goods at the Merak and Bakauheni crossing ports during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) periods.

The Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan said this arrangement was carried out in four main ports, namely Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang, and Gilimanuk ports.

Furthermore, Aan said that the mobilization arrangement at the port was carried out because it was predicted that there would be an increase in the movement of people and the volume of vehicles in the ferry sector.

"We have also prepared several supporting ports to help break down vehicle density and prevent buildup in one location," he said in an official statement, Friday, December 5.

Aan said that this crossing arrangement has been contained in the Joint Decree (SKB) on Road Traffic Regulation and Crossing During the 2025 Christmas Transport Period and 2026 New Year.

Furthermore, Aan said the government would operate Merak Port, Bakauheni Port, Ciwandan Port, Bojonegara BBJ Port (Serang-Banten), Muara Pilu BBJ Port (South Village), PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk Port (Bakauheni), PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera Port (Cilegon) and Panjang Port (Lampung) during the Nataru period.

"On December 19, 2025 at 15.00 local time until January 4, 2026 at 24.00 local time, only pedestrian passengers, class I (cycling) vehicles, class IVa motorized vehicles, class IVb goods cars, VV class motorized vehicles, Vb class goods cars and class VIa motorized vehicles (Merak-Bakauheni Eradication) can pass through Merak Port to Sumatra," he said.

Meanwhile, motorized vehicles of class II, III, and goods cars from class VIb to Sumatra, continued Aan, will be directed through Ciwandan Port (Ciwandan-Wika Beton Traffic).

"Then the class VII, VIII, and IX goods cars to Sumatra via BBJ Bojonegara (Bojonegara-Muara Pilu BBJ Examination)," he said.

Then, continued Aan, the Port of PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera (Cilegon) to Panjang Port (Lampung) will operate optionally in the event of a queue of goods transport vehicles at Ciwandan Port and BBJ Port.

Aan said that from the direction of Sumatra, Bakauheni Port to Java on December 19, 2025 at 15.00 local time until January 4, 2026 at 24.00 local time, pedestrian passengers, class I (cycling), class II motor vehicles, III, IVa, Va, and VIa, then class IVb, Vb, and VIb goods cars.

"VII, VIII, and IX goods cars from Sumatra to Java via the Muara Pilu BBJ Port (Muara Pilu-Bojonegara Eradication)," said Aan,

As a contingency step, continued Aan, the Panjang Port (Lampung) to PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera Port and Muara Pilu BBJ Port (South Village) to Bojonegara BBJ Port will operate optionally in the event of a queue of goods transport vehicles at Bakauheni Port.

Applied Delaying System, Ticket Check, And Buffer Zone

In addition to mobilizing arrangements, Aan explained, the SKB also regulates travel delays (delaying systems), ticket checks, and buffer zones to Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang and Gilimanuk ports.

The delivery system arrangements, ticket checks and as buffer zones to Merak Port and Ciwandan Port are carried out at the KM 43 A and KM 68 A rest areas on the Tangerang-Merak toll road, PT Munic Line land on the Cikuasa Atas road section, and the use of the Indah Kiat Port parking area.

"Meanwhile, the delay system, ticket checks, and as buffer zones to Bakauheni are carried out at the KM 49B and KM 20B rest areas of the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road. Then on non-toll roads are carried out at the Gayam Agribusiness Terminal, Gunung Jati Restaurant, Three Brothers Restaurant, and the Old Office of the Agricultural Quarantine Center," he explained.

To avoid long queues of vehicles in the area around the port, Aan continued, there will be restrictions on ticket purchases with a prohibited radius.

The details, said Aan, are Merak port as far as 4.71 KM from the central point of the outermost port (as a reference point for the Pesona Merak Hotel).

"And Bakauheni Port as far as 4.24 KM from the central point of the outermost port (as a reference for the Agricultural Quarantine Center)," he said
