National Christmas Committee Helps West Sumatra Disaster Victims
The 2025 National Christmas Committee distributed aid to residents affected by floods and landslides in West Sumatra Province.
After previously distributing 1,600 food packages in Agam Regency and Padang City, the 2025 National Christmas Committee this time provided assistance to residents in Korong Sipinang Village, Kayu Tanam District, Padang Pariaman Regency.
"The aid packages distributed do not only contain basic needs, but also daily equipment and important items that are needed by disaster-affected residents, such as rice, cooking oil, sardines, bath soap, toothpaste, toothpaste, shampoo, and child's milk," said National Christmas Committee Ancilla Yanny Irmella in a written statement published by the Government Communications Agency (BKP) reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 5.
He said as many as 400 food packages were handed over directly to the community who are still struggling to restore post-disaster life.
In addition, his party also distributed clothing assistance of 1 koli of men's and women's underwear (children, teenagers, adults), male and female adult T-shirts, children's clothes and toddlers, shorts (children, teenagers, adults), 1 koli blanket, sarong, 1 koli nester, 1 koli school uniform (SD, SMP, SMA), and mukena.
Not only that, cleaning aid and household appliances were also distributed, such as large and medium buckets, stationery cartons, eucalyptus oil, cleaning brushes, children's diapers, adult diapers, nagoya brooms and lidi brooms.
This series of assistance, he said, was adjusted to the urgent needs in the field, especially for families who still live in refugee posts and houses affected by mud and floods.
Previously, the Chairperson of the 2025 National Christmas Committee, Maruarar Sirait, emphasized that the distribution of aid was part of a joint work to help West Sumatra residents rise from disaster.
He emphasized that the National Christmas Committee would continue to monitor the conditions of the affected areas and be ready to distribute further assistance if needed.
The distribution of aid carried out in a sustainable manner is proof of the commitment of the 2025 National Christmas Committee to be present for residents regardless of religious, regional, or group backgrounds.
"When our brothers and sisters in West Sumatra experience a disaster, we are here to show that cross-class and cross-regional solidarity has always been the strength of the nation. In accordance with President Prabowo's direction, so that the simple meaning of Christmas can have a big impact on people in need," said Maruarar.
