From Denies To Benefits: Semarang City Government Appreciates Student Innovation At Johar Market

SEMARANG Deputy Mayor of Semarang, Iswar Aminuddin attended the Jelantah-Based Aromatherapy Candle Training organized by the South Johar Baru Skills and Training Institute (LKP) on the 4th floor of Johar Market, some time ago. This activity was attended by junior high school students as part of learning skills and environmental education.

In his remarks, the Deputy Mayor emphasized that this activity has important value to build environmental awareness from an early age. Oil is broken if it is thrown away, it will damage our environment," he told the participants. He added that through this training, students can understand how household waste can be processed into beneficial products such as aromatherapy candles and washing soap.

According to Aik Solikati, Chairman of the Johar Selatan Baru LKP Association, this training is not only a pre-work activity, but is also a strategic effort to grow the spirit of entrepreneurship among students, as well as to utilize household waste which has been considered worthless so that it becomes a selling-valued item.

Iswar also appreciated LKP Johar Selatan Baru and the school that had brought students to study directly at Johar Market, one of the historical icons of Semarang City. He said, 'Johar Market is a heritage building that is the pride of all of us. Children must know that history, so that you do not forget from the founders of this nation and state.'

In addition to education skills and the environment, this activity is also a momentum for the formation of student characters. Referring to previous coaching materials regarding juvenile delinquency, the Deputy Mayor reminded, "Don't let you get caught up in the problem of juvenile delinquency. Don't be a child who likes to brawl, bully, or fall into drugs. Do positive things in your daily life."

He also mentioned the big vision of Indonesia Gold 2045, inviting students to prepare themselves early on. If now you are naughty, then in 2045 you will not get a share when Indonesia prospers. Because in 2045 you are 34 years old, productive times to guard this nation

In closing it, the Deputy Mayor invites students to protect the environment, preserve history, and build good habits as the next generation of the nation.

"Keep your togetherness, take care of your mentality, and do positive things every day," he said.

The municipal government will explore further collaboration with LKP, schools, and local communities so that this kind of training can be expanded, strengthened, and become part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Semarang. (ADV)
