DENPASAR - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadives is still waiting for an additional budget proposal from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to deal with the impact of floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces.
"We are waiting for a request from BNPB. If I'm not mistaken, a special task force (task) has been formed there," said Minister of Finance Purbaya on the sidelines of inaugurating the Ministry of Finance Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat), in Denpasar, Bali, Friday, December 5.
The Minister of Finance admitted that he had prepared additional funds for BNPB to overcome the impact of floods and landslides in the three provinces.
However, he has not provided the nominal details because he is still observing the budget.
Until now, he said again, his party had not received an additional application for funds from BNPB.
He estimates that BNPB is currently still calculating additional budget options for handling natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra Provinces.
"Later, if it's not enough, it's still being calculated. The funds are ready," he also said.
Even so, Purbaya ensured that BNPB still had a budget of IDR 500 billion to IDR 600 billion which could be used for emergency needs for handling natural disasters.
As is known, BNPB received an allocation of the 2025 APBN budget of IDR 2.01 trillion.
The amount of the budget received a cut compared to 2024, BNPB received a budget of IDR 4.92 trillion.
Based on BNPB data, as of Thursday (4/12) at 16.00 WIB, the number of victims who died in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra reached 836 people based on data that had been updated at 16.00 WIB.
In addition, the natural disaster forced tens of thousands of people to flee because their houses were washed away until they were damaged.
Currently, the joint team continues to evacuate and search for flood and landslide victims and accelerate the opening of road access and distribution of aid to victims in the three provinces in Sumatra.
