Reduce Disaster Trauma, Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu'ti Sing With Students In Agam

AGAM Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, made a direct visit to SMPN 1 Tanjung Raya, Agam, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), which was one of the locations where schools were severely affected by floods and landslides on Thursday, November 4, 2025.

Accompanied by the Deputy Regent of Agam Muhammad Iqbal, Mendikdasmen Mu'ti on Friday, November 5, 2025, immediately greeted students from various levels, ranging from kindergarten, elementary, to junior high school, who were participating in psychosocial services from volunteers.

Mu'ti even actively provides psychosocial services. He invites children to tell stories and sing together to help them reduce post-disaster trauma.

"Adiks must keep the spirit, be smart and good for their friends," said Mu'ti, encouragingly.

SMPN 1 Tanjung Raya Becomes Center For Trauma Healing

SMPN 1 Tanjung Raya is now functioning as a temporary learning location as well as a psychosocial service center for all students in the area around Maninjau, considering that other schools cannot be used.

However, the condition of SMPN 1 Tanjung Raya itself did not escape the impact of the disaster. Some of these school classrooms are covered by rock avalanches carried by the river flow behind the building.

In a trauma healing session with elementary and junior high school children, Mendikdasmen Mu'ti also inserted an inspirational message. "What is the big cleric here?," asked Mu'ti. "Buya Hamka," shouted the students simultaneously.

He then encouraged the students to imitate the big character. "Be Buya Hamka, and be someone who excels according to their respective abilities," said Mu'ti.

Before leaving school, Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu'ti also provided assistance to the school, affected students, and handed over compensation to the heirs of students who died when the disaster occurred.
