Sport Agrees On Indonesia To Aim For 80 Gold Medals For The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA Bring home 80 gold medals from the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, which is the target of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) with the review team (review), has been agreed upon by all sports (sports).

Indonesia is confirmed to have sent 996 athletes to participate in 48 of the 51 sports competed in the biennial multi-pronged sporting event. Indonesia is chasing the number of gold medals above in order to pursue third place in the final standings.

Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement, Surono, said that the sports received and agreed with the number of medal targets as a result of the review team's assessment.

"When we take part in a multi-branch event, the one who issues and announces the medal target is the Government. Of course, when the Government has submitted the medal target figures to the public, each sport also agrees with the target," he said.

Surono asked all sports to fight to the maximum to get a gold medal. He hopes that if the Indonesian contingent can get a gold medal beyond the agreed count.

"We continue to support, motivate, and encourage athletes to perform totally for the sake of achieving gold at the 2025 SEA Games," he said.

The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Central KONI, Ade Lukman, appreciated the hard work of the review team in conducting the assessment and selection process to determine the athletes who left for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games.

"With the ability and experience of the review team members and mapping the strength of the other participants, we think the target conveyed by Menpora Erick Thohir after the results of the meeting with the review team are realistic targets to be achieved," he said.

He also said that the target set by the Government is in line with the calculation of each sport.

"We are all good at KONI, the big sports administrators, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports agreed on the target at the SEA Games. We prioritize unity and solidity for the sake of achievement and achieving the medal target," he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), Wijaya Mithuna Noeradi, said that the medal target that has been conveyed by the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports is the result of careful analysis and calculation by the review team.

He said that during the review process, the team had known the potential, strength, and obstacles experienced by each sport. In addition, before being submitted to the public, the results of the team's assessment have also been shared with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"Cooperation from various parties resulted in the final target of medals, which of course was also agreed upon by NOC Indonesia and the big sports administrators. We are all sports stakeholders in line with this target," he said.

NOC Indonesia also supports athletes to appear with high enthusiasm at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games.

"NOC Indonesia is optimistic that businesses, prayers, and support from various parties, including the Indonesian people, will take athletes to reach the target of 80 gold. In fact, we continue to motivate them to get more gold than the target given," said Noeradi.
