Barcelona Rejects Dani Olmo To Undergo Shoulder Operations, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - Barcelona did not want to linger by the mainstay midfielder Dani Olmo, who suffered a shoulder injury when he defeated Atletico Madrid. The club also refused their players to undergo surgery so they would not miss Barca too long because Barca played an important game after the new year.

Olmo had to leave the field shortly after scoring a goal which made Barca turn 2-1 in a duel at the Camp Nou Stadium, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in the morning WIB. Olmo, who fell after beating goalkeeper Atletico Jan Oblak, could not celebrate the goal because he felt pain in the shoulder.

After undergoing treatment, he was then withdrawn to be replaced by Ferran Torres who solidified Barca's victory to 3-1.

The club announced Olmo would be sidelined for one month to undergo recovery. Barca chose their players to undergo 'conservational care' or not to go up to the operating table.

If the 27-year-old attacking midfielder has to operate, he will be absent longer. However, it is estimated that Olmo will not take long to recover if he is only treated. However, he is still absent from Barca's six matches in various competitions.

Olmo tidak bisa tampil di kompetisi domestik melawan Real Betis (tandang), Osasuna (kandang), Villarreal (tandang) dan Espanyol (tandang). Laga melawan Villarreal dan Espanyol bakal tidak mudah.

The reason is, Villarreal is on fire and is currently ranked third. Meanwhile, Espanyol is a city rival and the Barceloni derby is always tight and fierce. Moreover, Espanyol is also quite consistent and ranks sixth.

Barca also played a crucial match in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey. Hansi Flick's team still has not been strengthened by Olmo when he played Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Olmo is expected to recover in early 2026. He is expected to have joined the squad when the Blaugrana played Supercopa Espana in Saudi Arabia, January 7, 2026.

Olmo himself is optimistic that he will be better and stronger when he returns to play after undergoing recovery.

"This injury will not stop me. Thank you for your support, Culers ( Barca fans). I am still full of enthusiasm. We stay together until the end of this year. Forca Barca," Olmo wrote on his Instagram account.

Olmo has played 17 games this season. He played 13 times in LaLiga and four times in the Champions League. The Spaniard has scored four goals, three of them from the last two matches, and two assists.
