PU Targets Indonesia's Raw Water Village Capacity To Increase Drastically To 55.09 Percent
The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has set an aggressive target to strengthen the national water resources (SDA) sector. Deputy Minister of Public Works (Wamen PU) Diana Kusumastuti revealed that her Ministry is targeting to increase the national water capacity to 59.08 cubic meters per capita per year.
"In the water resource sector, it increases the water storage capacity by 59.08 cubic meters per capita per year," Diana said, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, November 5, 2025.
Furthermore, Diana explained that until 2027, the Ministry of Public Works also targets the ratio of installed raw water capacity to population needs of 55.09 percent. In addition, the percentage of the distribution of functional rice fields is targeted at 61.92 percent, while the water availability area is guaranteed by the reservoir at 16.07 percent.
Other targets include an increase in the efficiency of utilization of irrigation water by US$0.39 per cubic meter, protection of priority areas from water damage to up to 61 percent, and a percentage of the reliability of irrigation areas by 27 percent.

The Ministry of Public Works translated President Prabowo's mission into the PU608 Main Target. This target focuses on reducing the Incremental Capital Output Ratio (ICOR) below 6, poverty alleviation to zero percent, and an increase in economic growth by 8 percent.
"Of course we have to realize it through cross-ministerial/institutional collaboration, and a solid and coordinated local government," Diana concluded.
Previously, the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo emphasized that natural resources infrastructure was very important to support national food self-sufficiency targets. Dody emphasized his commitment to continuing the construction of dams and irrigation networks, in line with President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's priority programs.
