Mitigation Steps, Geological Agency Of The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Sends Team To Disaster Location
JAKARTA - The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) deployed a team to the flash flood disaster locations in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
In at least five districts in three provinces affected by this hydrometeorological disaster, namely, Humbang Haangkan, Agam, Mandailing Natal, Gayo Lues, and Southeast Aceh regencies.
Acting (Plt) Head of the Geological Agency Lana Saria revealed that her party estimates that disasters will be triggered by high to extreme rainfall, with geomorphological conditions that are steep to very steep and lithologically weathered and easily eroded, it is possible that this will happen.
"The increase in the capacity of disaster-prone village communities through the identification of initial landslides, evacuation routes, and revitalization of slope vegetation is the foundation of prevention at the site level. Control of land use procedures on steep slopes including restrictions on the opening of new land and repair of surface drainage is a very decisive structural step in reducing risk in residential areas," explained Acting Head of the Geological Agency Lana Saria, Thursday, December 4.
To ensure what happened, the Geological Agency immediately sent an Emergency Response Team for the Land Movement and Flash Floods to the disaster site.
"Following up on the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister of the Geological Agency, the Geological Agency will immediately send a TD Team forlongan/longsor and flash floods in Sumatra (Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra), PVMBG-BPPTKG The Geological Agency dispatched a team in stages to the disaster site to intervene and investigate what happened," he explained.
To restore the condition of the community, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadali has also asked PT PLN (Persero) to immediately improve the affected electricity infrastructure quickly.
"I ask PLN to immediately restore electricity infrastructure that was damaged by the flash floods immediately. All disaster locations this week will enjoy lighting again," said Bahlil.
Bahlil also previously emphasized that he would take firm action against mining industry players who violate mining rules, especially if they cause losses in the community.
If this is indeed the result of mining activities carried out haphazardly, Bahlil emphasized that this condition must be ended because mining activities should not cause environmental damage.

According to him, mining is an improvement in the level of people's economics, not a disaster.
"This is sad. I will make sure to take firm action against the miners who work haphazardly in accordance with the provisions, if it is true that this disaster occurred due to mining activities," said Bahlil.
