Many Disconnected Roads In Aceh, Ministry Of Home Affairs Prioritizes Infrastructure Improvements
JAKARTA - Director General of Regional Administration Development (Adwil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal Zakaria Ali emphasized that repairing infrastructure damage is now a priority that must be resolved immediately so that aid distribution is not hampered.
"All cut access must be opened as soon as possible, because this determines the safety of residents in the field," Safrizal said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 4.
This was conveyed when he directly inspected a number of areas affected by flash floods and landslides in Aceh to ensure the acceleration of emergency handling.
Safrizal said coordination with the Ministry of PUPR continues to be strengthened to complete the installation of baileys, stockpiling of oprit, and handling landslides.
"This is an emergency situation. No handling should be delayed. The sooner the road opens, the sooner aid arrives," he said.
Safrizal emphasized that access recovery is the foundation of the entire series of disaster management. He also conveyed an invitation to all regions and communities to support handling efforts in the affected areas.
"Regional governments in other provinces and regencies/cities as well as communities can help Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. This is the time for us to strengthen each other together, and appreciation should be addressed to the ranks of the Directorate General of Highways for their hard work in these difficult times," said Safrizal.
