There Are Still Isolated Areas, TNI Distributes Aid To North Aceh With Airdrop
BANDA ACEH - TNI soldiers from Korem Lilawangsa carried out an airdrop method to distribute aid to flood-affected communities in an inland area that is still isolated in North Aceh Regency.
"This effort can reduce direct suffering, basic needs, evacuation, and logistics, especially because reports show that many remote and isolated areas in North Aceh cannot be reached," said Danrem Lilawangsa Colonel Inf Ali Imran as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 4.
The distribution of aid by airdrop was distributed to flood-affected communities in Sarah Raja Hamlet, Lubok Pusaka Village, Stepan District, North Aceh. This area is no longer accessible by land.
"The access road in this area is badly damaged, making it difficult to distribute aid to residents," he said.
The group of Danrem 011/Lilawangsa initially used trails and reo trucks to carry aid, they had to work with mud and material left over from the flood while crossing the road to an isolated location.
However, one hamlet, namely Sarah Raja, cannot be reached by land, so it must use airdrop so that the logistics of government assistance can be dropped for residents there.
"The current condition is concerning, apart from their homes and property, their land is destroyed. Fields and rice fields as livelihoods for the ludes residents are not left to be carried away by the flood currents," he said.
Colonel Ali Imran assessed that since a week of natural disasters, conditions like this have forced people to survive in the face of difficulties such as housing, eating and clean water. Even medicines are the current needs.
Danrem said access to isolated communities is difficult to reach by land. The aid must be by airdrop using a helicopter.
"Today we are here to see firsthand the development of the conditions that actually happened. Many of our brothers here are still in trouble to survive," said Danrem Lilawangsa Colonel Inf Ali Imran.
