Ministry Of P2MI Acceleration Of Placement Of 500 Thousand Migrant Workers In 2026
DENPASAR - Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) accelerated the placement of 500 thousand Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in 2026, due to great opportunities in professional labor markets in a number of countries.
"We will run it, accelerate it with training, education, because it is not only a side of expertise but also language," said P2MI Minister Mukhtarudin in Denpasar, Bali, Thursday, December 4.
Therefore, he continued, the government through the state budget in 2026 allocated an estimated budget of around Rp35 trillion to Rp40 trillion, with details for the training costs estimated at Rp23 trillion and the placement cost estimated at around Rp19 trillion.
"This is the government going to find a solution, what the pattern and financing scheme will look like," said the Minister of P2MI.
He explained that the target of 500 thousand PMI placements in 2026 is a quick win program from President Prabowo Subianto, of which 300 thousand are expected to be filled with graduates of Vocational High School (SMK) and 200 thousand from the general sector, for example high school and diploma.
On the other hand, he continued, by 2025 the placement of regular PMIs has reached 260 thousand or exceeded the target of 259 thousand people and in 2026 it is targeted at 300 thousand PMIs.
Based on data through the syskop2mi.bp2mi.go.id page, he said, there are 350 thousand job vacancies abroad registered on the site. However, it has only been filled with 20 percent and the remaining 80 percent has not been fulfilled because it still does not meet competent Human Resources (HR).

The workers that are widely needed abroad include the health sector such as nurses, crew members (ABK), commercial vessels, fisheries, cruise ships, manufacturing staff, and other skilled workers.
On the other hand, the government is also not pursuing PMI's quantity, but also prioritizing the protection aspect in destination countries, for example not placing labor in conflict countries.
"It is impossible for us to send migrant workers to conflict areas, unsafe countries and non-conducive countries for migrant workers," said the Minister of P2MI.
