Student Jempol Wins To Break Up, Youth Group In Garut Arrested
JAKARTA - The Garut Resort Police (Polres) arrested a group of vocational-level students who carried out a beating against other students in Garut Regency, West Java.
Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Joko Prihatin said those arrested would undergo further legal proceedings.
"We are moving quickly to follow up on public reports. The perpetrators who have been arrested are undergoing investigations, and we are continuing to pursue other perpetrators," he said in Garut, Thursday, as reported by Antara.
He said the police received a report that a student was the victim of an attack by a group of teenagers on Patriot Street in front of the At-Taufiq Mosque, Sukagalih Village, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency, Sunday, November 30 in the morning.
The victim, a class XI student, a school in Garut Kota, said he, before the incident was gathered with his friends and a group of teenagers of about 20 people came using motorbikes and immediately attacked the victim.
As a result of the attack, a victim suffered serious injuries, including a finger that broke his left hand due to the slashing of a sharp weapon (sajam) brought by the perpetrator of the attack, then the police conducted an investigation and it was discovered that the attack group.
"The results of the investigation led to a group of students from SMK in Garut," he said.

He revealed that the results of the investigation finally managed to secure seven teenagers who were suspected of being involved, one of whom was the main perpetrator of the stabbing which caused the victim's thumb to be cut off, the other perpetrator hit with his bare hands and a number of objects such as bottles of liquor.
The case, he said, is currently still being investigated to find out who was involved and will be processed according to applicable legal regulations.
"Investigating who was directly involved in the beating, and we will process it according to the SOP," he said.
The police have secured a number of evidences used by the youth gang, such as bottles, samurai, and the perpetrators, allegedly under Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding beatings.
Joko added that the case is still being developed because it is suspected that there are still a number of other perpetrators involved in the attack and beatings.
"We continue to pursue other perpetrators to account for their actions," he concluded.
