Prospective 2026 Hajj Pilgrims Affected By The Sumatra Disaster Can Extend Departure Fees

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that he would relax the process of paying Hajj fees to prospective pilgrims in 2026 who were affected by the disaster in Sumatra.

He said prospective pilgrims from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra would get an extension of time to pay off costs.

"There may also be relaxation later in the payment process, then the process of determining officers, and so on. We will (give) relaxation in these three areas," he said, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, confiscated by Antara.

He said the payment of Hajj payments was set for December 2025. However, the government decided to grant exceptions to disaster victims in the three provinces.

"It should have been completed at the payment of the Hajj payment this December, the 24th. But because there was a disaster in these three areas, we relaxed, we can extend it," he explained.

Furthermore, he emphasized that this relaxation is only a time extension and nothing else has been given to prospective pilgrims affected by the flood.

"The conditions are as usual. That means, normal as it is today. But we just extend the time, that's it," he said.

Regarding the recruitment process for Hajj officers in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, he said he would delay the indefinite time limit.

According to him, this process can only be carried out after conditions are stable and waiting for readiness from their respective regions.

"We have postponed the selection process until a time that we have not determined. Until we are really ready, then these three regions, these three provinces are starting to stabilize," he said.
