As A Result Of Gaza's Aggression, Guinness World Records Rejects Record From Israel
JAKARTA - Guinness World Records officially stopped accepting records from individuals and institutions in Israel amid increasing global criticism of the country's military actions in the Gaza Strip.
This decision comes after public pressure and pressure from a number of human rights organizations that think Israel has violated international law and committed war crimes. Information about the policy began to spread through a number of media reports on Wednesday (3/12).
One of the affected institutions is the Israeli organization Gift of Life, an institution engaged in a voluntary kidney donation campaign.
They previously submitted a request for a record recording to Guinness, but the filing was rejected. Guinness World Records conveyed the reason for refusal with a statement, "We are currently not processing a record filing from Israel."

The move is seen as a signal that global opinion and sentiment towards Israel is changing after the escalation of violence that occurred in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, attacks that have taken place in the region have resulted in more than 70,000 Palestinians dying and about 171,000 others experiencing number injuries dominated by women and children.
Analysts assess that Guinness's decision could be a trigger for other international institutions to take a similar stance. In some sectors, including sports, culture, to academics, the discourse of boycotting Israel began to strengthen again.
Human rights activists welcomed this move and called on other global organizations not to remain silent and to take responsibility for alleged human rights violations that were said to have taken place systematically.
According to them, non-military pressures such as social, cultural, and symbolic embargoes can accelerate Israel's position towards accountability on the international stage.
