Indosat Restores More Than 90 Percent Of Networks In Sumatra After Disaster

JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison continues to strive to restore networks and telecommunications services in disaster-affected areas including Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

In the latest notification, as of December 3, 2025, services in most of the affected areas have returned to service, including 50% of Aceh, 92% of North Sumatra, and more than 97% of West Sumatra have been operating normally.

"In a critical situation like this, our priority is to accelerate recovery while still prioritizing team safety," Indosat Ooredoo Director and Chief Technology Officer Desmond Cheung said in his official statement.

He also explained that Indosat continues to make various efforts, starting from operating permanent and portable generators with additional fuel supplies to overcome power outages, as well as providing satellite links.

Indosat continues to coordinate closely with Digital Communication, as well as work together with the central and local governments, PLN, BPBD, TNI, infrastructure providers, and the local community.

"This joint support allows the Indosat team to open access, accelerate equipment mobility, and accelerate service recovery," added Desmod further.

In addition to technical efforts, Indosat also distributed humanitarian assistance to affected residents. Assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food, drinking water, sleeping mats, blankets, personal hygiene equipment, as well as IM3 and Tri first cards.

All aid has been distributed through official posts in Padang Pariaman and Langkat, in collaboration with local governments, volunteers, and local communities, with priority to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and mothers with babies.
