Manchester United Still Relistist Targeting Finish In The Champions League Zone This Season

Ruben Amorim said he did not know whether Manchester United could survive the race for a place to go to the Champions League this season.

Even so, the Portuguese coach still has optimism. He added that given the situation in the standings, it is realistic that the Red Devils could rise to the top four in the coming weeks.

Manchester United have put themselves in ticket competition to European tournaments with quite impressive results in the latest seven matches (four wins, one loss, and two draws).

This brings Amorim's team closer to the Champions League zone. However, about staying in the top four of the final standings, he didn't want to predict. Most importantly, Manchester United focused on the match to the match and could reap maximum points.

"I understand the question. If there is a standings, if you have a chance, one game per week, you should try it".

"However, then you look at the standings and everyone is two points behind. Everything can change in one week. Let's focus."

"I think the best way to do something, especially with our team, is to focus only on the next game."

"If we win the next game, at least we will maintain this position. That's our main focus. To reach the Champions League position in the next few weeks, yes, that's realistic."

"For the future, I don't know. I want to continue to be near that position next week. After that, we'll see," Amorim said on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, local time.

Manchester United's chances of qualifying for the Champions League are getting bigger with Lisandro Martinez's return. The defender returned from the bench against Crystal Palace last weekend after being sidelined for 10 months due to a knee injury.

Martinez struggled to start West Ham at Old Trafford on Friday, December 5, 2025, early morning WIB, but Amorim has asked the Argentine to be patient.

"Licha is a player who has a strong character. I felt he stopped playing for a year. Now he wants everything very, very quickly."

"You have to be able to deal with that injury. We need to step step by step, but he's already starting to get ready."

"He feels very strong. He's one more player who will help the team play better. So, I'm very happy with Licha right now," said the Manchester United coach.
