Amoritism Continues To Encourage Matheus Cunha To Achieve The Peak Of His Performance
Ruben Amorim said that Matheus Cunha still has a level to improve at Manchester United. He urged the forward to forget his mediocre goal record since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer.
Cunha is ready to return to the squad ahead of West Ham's visit to Old Trafford on Friday, December 5, 2025, early morning WIB, after missing the last two games due to head injuries he suffered during training.
The 26-year-old scored just one goal in 11 games after a 62.5 million move from Wolves.
However, Amorim told the Brazilian that statistics is not the only way to judge players.

"He still has a higher level. He's in a different club, a different pressure. He's struggling because he doesn't score."
"He thinks too much about numbers, but his influence on the team is important to us," Amorim told a news conference on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, local time.
Cunha has been allowed back to the squad to face West Ham, but Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire are still absent.
Amoritism revealed that he had two doubts about another injury ahead of the match, one of which was the possibility of captain Bruno Fernandes pulling over after looking uncomfortable towards the end of the game in Crystal Palace's 2-1 win over last weekend.
"We have two doubts for this game. I won't tell you today because it will change the way we play."
"So let's see if they can play. The rest of the squad is in good shape, Matheus is back, but I have two players who probably can't play," Amorim said.
Amoritism must also decide whether to play Leny Yoro as a starter against West Ham. The young player awarded Crystal Palace a penalty and looked annoyed when he sat on the bench after being replaced in the second half.
Yoro was also entertained by Mason Mount at the end of the game, while the players and staff celebrated victory ahead of supporters who came to Selhurst Park.
"I spoke to him because he thought too much. He made mistakes in the game and then he struggled because he was too young. He wanted to do everything really well."
"He continues to grow. The setback was not easy for him as a young player. He couldn't give that to people like him when he came to the bench. He understood that, but he was really frustrated."
"Good job, it shows that he cares. He knows it's not his best game, but he does some things well."
"I also showed him that. He is fit and ready for the next challenge," said the Portuguese coach.
