SIG Wins Two Gold Ranks, One Silver And Commendation Award At The Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating 2025

JAKARTA - The commitment of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in carrying out the best sustainability-based business practice, has again received recognition at the 2025 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practicers.

Exceeding last year's achievement, this time SIG Group won four awards. SIG and its subsidiary, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk, won Gold, and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk won the Silver and Commendation Award rankings for its first participation in the ASRRAT event. The award was handed over at the 2025 ASRRAT award ceremony at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, on Friday, November 28.

ASRRAT is an event to increase the sustainability report (sustainability report) to appreciate companies and institutions for the quality of the report on sustainability and commitment to the best practices in sustainable governance. In 2025, ASRRAT was attended by 82 companies and/or organizations, namely 78 from Indonesia (including 3 public sector entities) as well as 4 entities from abroad (Bangladesh 1 entity, Philippines 3 entities). The assessment was carried out by competent assessors who came from academics and expert practitioners.

SIG Operations Director, Reni Wulandari said, transparent and accountable sustainability reports are part of good corporate governance. As information media, the sustainability report is a guide for stakeholders to find out the company's sustainability strategy which includes targets, initiatives and achievement of sustainability performance.

"The Achievement of ASRRAT 2025 proves the seriousness of GIS in the application of sustainability principles, good governance practices, and the commitment to information disclosure to fulfill the rights of stakeholders, especially how SIG continues to encourage the acceleration of the green industry transition to contribute to Net Zero Emission 2050," said Reni Wulandari.

Reni Wulandari added, GIS continues to strengthen sustainability commitments that focus on three main principles of Sustainable Development Goals, namely property, people, and planets. This commitment is realized by integrating sustainability principles in business operations that support environmental protection efforts, improving community welfare, and having a positive impact on the Company's performance.

Like at the Tuban Factory, East Java, SIG has integrated sustainability aspects in mining land management. SIG applies the zero run off method to maintain the balance of underground water in mining areas. Whereas in the management of reclamation land, especially in quarry limestone, SIG applies reclamation innovation by planting trees using a channel system. This technique is done by making holes that extend with a certain width and depth (such as trenches) as places to load planting media, so that planting trees for reclamation becomes more effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly for companies to implement.

GIS also created a post-mining land management breakthrough by building the Kambang Semi Ecopark area for community empowerment. Empowerment programs include cavendish banana plantations, plantations and eucalyptus distillation, green houses areas, livestock areas (lele, laying hens and goats), tilapung tilapia fish cages, Bale Kriya (paving stone, pots, interlocked bricks), to camp areas.

In line with the Ecopark Kambang Semi roadmap, since 2022 SIG has initiated a corn crop utilization program and the handling of corn tuna waste so that it can provide local economic benefits through agriculture and restore the ecological function of land. In addition, SIG also encourages the use of corn cangol waste as an alternative fuel in the cement production process to accelerate the achievement of the CO2 emission reduction target.

The decline in CO2 emissions is one of the targets in the SIG 2030 Sustainability Roadmap, where GIS applies sustainability principles to ensure environmentally friendly operations and produces low-carbon green cement products. The use of renewable energy sources based on industrial waste, biomass, RDF, and the use of solar power helps reduce the dependence of GIS on natural resources. These efforts support SIG's strategic steps to decarbonize resources and energy efficiency, improve environmental quality, and the availability of environmentally friendly building materials.

"In the midst of climate change issues and dynamically moving economic situations, the best business practice based on sustainability is not just to survive but to increase capacity in the face of challenges, and optimize and even create opportunities for sustainable performance growth," said Reni Wulandari.
