4 KPLP Ships Deployed To Transport Aid To Areas Affected By The Sumatra Disaster

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation deployed four Patrol Vessels for the Marine and Shipping Supervision Unit (KPLP) to transport and distribute logistical assistance to flood-affected communities in a number of Sumatra areas.

The four ships are KN Kalimasada P-115, KN Trisula P-111, KN Sarotama P-112, and KN Rantos P-210. These ships carry tens of tons of assistance from the collaboration of Transportation Ministry employees with various stakeholders, donors, and companies that also show solidarity with disaster-affected residents.

The goods transported include suitable clothes, medicines and emergency medical equipment, rice and basic necessities, food and baby needs, bottled drinking water, blankets, and other basic equipment for the needs of the community after the disaster.

The Director General of Sea Transportation, Muhammad Masyhud, emphasized that this step was taken to ensure that the basic needs of residents in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra can be met immediately.

Furthermore, Masyhud emphasized that the Directorate General of Sea Transportation continues to be ready to support disaster response efforts and ensure the logistics loading process follows shipping safety standards.

"We have prepared the KPLP ship for this humanitarian mission. The Ministry of Transportation will continue to assist and oversee the distribution of aid so that it can reach people in need," said Masyhud in an official statement, Wednesday, December 3.

The routes and destinations for shipping goods are KN. Kalimasada - P.115 Departs December 3 at 17.00 WIB from Bojonegara Port, Banten to Kuala Langsa-Lhokseumawe, Aceh.

Sementara kapal KN. Sarotama – P.112 dan KN. Rantos - P.210 berangkat 3 Desember pukul 17.00 WIB dari Pelabuhan Batam menuju Lhokseumawe, Aceh.

Sedangkan, kapal KN. Trisula - P.111 berangkat 4 Desember pukul 18.00 WIB dari Pelabuhan Bojonegara, Banten menuju Belawan, Sumatra Utara.

“Kami berharap pengiriman bantuan melalui transportasi laut ini dapat membantu mempercepat pemulihan masyarakat di wilayah terdampak bencana,” ujarnya.

Meanwhile, the KN. Sarotama P.112 and KN. Rantos - P.210 departed December 3 at 17.00 WIB from Batam Port to Lhokseumawe, Aceh.

Meanwhile, the KN. Trisula - P. 111 ship departed December 4 at 18.00 WIB from Bojonegara Port, Banten to Belawan, North Sumatra.

"We hope that the delivery of aid through sea transportation can help accelerate the recovery of people in disaster-affected areas," he said.
