The Government Ensures That The State Budget Is Sufficient For Handling The Impact Of The Sumatra Disaster

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi who is also the Presidential Spokesperson ensured that the APBN was still sufficient to finance the handling of the impact of flash floods and landslides in three provinces of Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"In the APBN there is a fund that is ready to use, which is intended for preparedness, disaster. The President (Prabowo Subianto, ed.) has given direct instructions, if the funds are ready to use in numbers, nominally, it needs to be added, then an addition will be made," said Prasetyo as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 3.

Prasetyyo continued two days ago (1/12), the amount of Ready-to-Use Funds reached approximately Rp500 billion.

"If until the last, approximately 2 days ago, (The funds ready to use, ed.) were still in the range of Rp. 500 billion," said Prasetyo.

Therefore, the Minister of State Secretary believes that the Indonesian government is still able to handle the impact of disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, even though friendly countries have offered assistance to Indonesia.

Pras, representing the government, also expressed his gratitude for the offer of assistance from friendly countries.

"We also represent the Government of the Republic of Indonesia express our gratitude, because there is a lot of attention from friendly countries, both expressing concern and those who want to provide assistance, we would like to thank you. However, we feel that the government, in this case, we are all still able to overcome all the problems we face," said Pras.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi then explained that in terms of food, the government has stock availability to be distributed to refugees, while for fuel supply (BBM), the government has also coordinated with Pertamina.

"We are also intensely coordinating with Pertamina to ensure that fuel supplies are immediately distributed throughout the region, including having to use methods that may not be normal, right, BBM is also how we can try to do dropping from the air, because it is in accordance with the disaster conditions we face in the field," said Prasetyo Hadi.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno stated that President Prabowo Subianto instructed the impact of flash floods and landslides in three provinces in Sumatra, namely in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra to be handled nationally and become a national priority.

"The president gave instructions that this situation be treated as a national priority, including guarantees for national funds and logistics to be fully available, in total, one of which was during this emergency response period using Ready-to-Use Funds," said Pratikno during a press conference.

Flash floods hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), on its official website, reported the latest data as of November 3, 2025, the number of casualties due to flash floods and landslides in Sumatra as of Wednesday reached 804 people, while 634 people were still declared missing.
