KKP Reveals Many Closed Shrimp Ponds Due To Sumatra And Aceh Floods
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that many shrimp ponds were damaged by the floods that hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
The Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Sasono said that the affected shrimp ponds were filled with mud.
"We all know that there are many ponds (affected by the flood) and that's all flat," said the man who is familiarly called Ipunk at the Cesium-137 Free Shrimp Export Release event at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3.
When asked further about the number of affected farmers, Ipunk could not confirm because the data was at the Directorate General of Aquaculture.
However, Ipunk admitted that many shrimp ponds were affected.
"That's the data at the Budidaya Directorate General of Fisheries. Yesterday there were a lot of them. Right, all of these (fish ponds) are mud-murmed," he said.
Ipunk opens up opportunities for flood-affected ponds to be revitalized by the government. "The KKP in the future will be revitalized perhaps. This will definitely be improved by the government," he said.
The KKP has formed a Sumatra Disaster Response and Care Action Task Force Team. The assistance is ensured to be integrated, measurable and can make a real contribution to the affected communities, especially the city community and fisheries.
"The highest appreciation and gratitude for the concern and concern of the stakeholders of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Fisheries, especially those who directly provide assistance and are entrusted to us as the Task Force for our brothers and sisters in North Sumatra and Aceh and West Sumatra," he added.
