Mimika Regent Asks Police To Completely Investigate Murder Terror Of 2 Timika Residents
Mimika Regent, Central Papua,Johannes Rettob asked the police to thoroughly investigate two sadistic murder cases that claimed the lives of two Timika residents by an unknown person on Tuesday (2/12).
"I ask the police to carry out a thorough investigation to the end of the two consecutive murder cases that occurred in Timika yesterday. We all provide support so that the police can immediately reveal and arrest the perpetrators for legal proceedings," said John Rettob in Timika, Wednesday, December 3.
He appealed to local residents not to be provoked or to join in provoking other residents to trigger instability in the security and security situation in the area.
"My message is that Mimika residents should not be provoked. The current situation in Mimika, I see it as an effort to create conditions. Don't be influenced by any issues, then make the atmosphere chaotic. Let's keep Mimika safe," he said.
He was surprised by the case because Mimika Regency had just been named the most harmonious area of 514 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia by the Ministry of Religion, thus winning the Harmony Award 2025.
However, just a few days later, there were a series of criminal acts in Timika City and several other places.
On the other hand, said the regent, currently in Timika the II Catholic Choir Party (Pesparani) at the level of Central Papua Province is being held which is attended by contingents from five districts.
"I'm actually surprised that we are considered a safe area, a very harmonious area, but suddenly these incidents emerged. We conveyed to all Mimika people that the government exists, the TNI, Polri exist," he said.
The Mimika Regent also asked law enforcement officials to act decisively against perpetrators of the spread of provocative issues and chain messages through social media such as WhatsApp groups, Facebook and others.
"The group members must take responsibility for the issues that are spread through the WhatsApp group. If there is hoax and provocative information, please remove it immediately," said John Rettob.
