Central Tapanuli Residents Can Exchange News, Take Advantage Of Access To Communications At Refugee Posts
JAKARTA - The government has distributed dozens of Starlink communications devices to a number of disaster points in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, including in Central Tapanuli (Tapteng) and other isolated areas due to cut road access.
The recovery of the communication network for disaster-affected residents in Sumatra is used to exchange news.
Nur Asia Pasaribu (60), one of the flood refugees at the Pandan Sports Hall, Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Tuesday, December 2, said that when the incident occurred on Wednesday morning last week, electricity went out and the communication network was cut off. He had difficulty informing his relatives in Sibolga.
"I just asked the SAR Team for help. So they gave the network a video call with my brothers and sisters. And they found out that my condition was safe," said Nur gratefully, confiscated by Antara.
He also hopes that post-disaster recovery can be accelerated. "Please help, Mr. [President Prabowo Subianto], so that the people of Central Tapanuli can return to their homes. And access, especially electricity, so that they can be conditioned quickly," he asked.
Another refugee, Teti Boru Gultom, expressed a similar hope. This resident of Sigiring-giring Village, Tukka District, hopes that the government will immediately repair the houses of residents affected by the flood.
"But Mr. President, ask our village for help so that we can live in it again properly, sir. Hopefully the President will be given a long, healthy life," said Teti.
