Muara Angke Residents Must Pay High In Order To Get Clean Water, Pramono: This Is Not Fair

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to complaints from residents of Muara Angke, Penjaringan, North Jakarta who were forced to pay dearly in order to get clean water for their daily needs.

Until now, many residents of Muara Angke still buy piculan water from cart traders. Where, spending money only to buy jerry water can reach Rp. 1 million per month.

"Yang di Angke, daerah yang, mohon maaf, yang sebenarnya lebih membutuhkan air bersih, tetapi mereka harus membayar (mahal). Menurut saya yang seperti ini tidak fair," kata Pramono di Balai Kota DKI Jakarta, Rabu, 3 Desember.

Pramono admitted that he had known that one of the main problems faced by residents was the difficulty of getting clean water at affordable prices.

Meanwhile, currently Perumda PAM Jaya is still following up on the temporary solution, namely the provision of water reservoirs at a price of Rp400 per jerry can. Unfortunately, the placement of this reservoir has not been placed in all RTs in Muara Angke.

"Right now, the increase is significant, but I don't think it's enough. So why for PAM Jaya, the expansion of the pipeline and then I also encourage clean water sources to be completed immediately," explained Pramono.

"PAM Jaya is really we encourage it for next year, if possible, the achievement for clean water is already above 85 percent. If that can be done, moreover I target that by 2029 all of Jakarta must be able to clean water," he continued.

It is known that residents of Muara Angke still have to buy clean water from cart traders because PAM Jaya's piping water service has not yet reached the area. Each one-pikul water jerry can is sold for IDR 5,000, making household spending swell only for basic needs.
