Michael Schumacher's Family Buys Land For Rp48.7 Billion 'Just' To Build Stables

JAKARTA - The family of F1 legend Michael Schumacher has reportedly bought a large plot of land in Majorca.

Local newspaper Diario de Mallorca said it bought the 13-hectare estate in March for £2.4m (£48.7m). The plan is, on this land, a stable will be built.

Michael's daughter Gina Maria (24) is an accomplished horseman and his wife Corinna won the European Championship in western-style horseback riding in 2010.

The purchase of the land is said to have been made on March 5 after seven members of the family that inherited it decided to sell it.

"The purpose (of this land purchase) is to nurture and ride about 20 horses on it, because Michael Schumacher's daughter is an avid horseman," Diario de Mallorca reported on Sunday.

"The stables, which will be moved from Switzerland, will be built on it. The goal is for Gina Maria to practice her favorite sport in Majorca, because the idea is that the family will increase the number of trips to the island, especially in winter," the report continued.

The land is said to be in Puerto Andratx, near the mansion Schumacher's wife believed to have bought in 2017.

The house identified as Villa Yasmin was once owned by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. He sold it after the death of his wife Mari Angeles Sandoval.
