Fire In Jatipulo Caused By SUTET Cable, DPRD Urges PLN To Responsibility To Rebuild Citizens' Houses

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta DPRD member Abdul Aziz urged PLN to immediately take concrete steps to rebuild the houses of residents who were charred in a fire in Jatipulo, Palmerah, West Jakarta, two weeks ago.

Aziz said the fire was triggered by the PLN's broken Extra High Voltage Air Line (SUTET) cable. The fire also occurred at several points that were far from each other, thus increasing the handling process.

"So in my area of my house in Jatipulo, Palmerah, West Jakarta, on November 16, there was a fairly large fire. 61 houses caught fire at a point that was not one point apart. It turned out that the PLN sutet cable was broken," Aziz told reporters, Wednesday, December 3.

He explained that the location of the incident was located around the Tomang Bridge, a densely populated area that had been passed by the high-voltage electricity network. It has been two weeks since the incident, he assessed that the assistance from PLN has not been seen significantly.

According to Aziz, the condition of the residents is still concerning. Many of them were forced to temporarily stay in prayer rooms, mosques, relatives' houses, some even had to move away from the location because they did not have the money to stay in the neighborhood.

"Well, after two weeks, we have provided assistance there and so on. Until this morning I called Mr. RW, "What about Mr. RW? There has been no assistance from PLN yet? Related to the construction of the houses that were burned down ?," he said.

"In these two weeks, it's quite a long time in my opinion. It is not appropriate for a BUMN as big as PLN to postpone two weeks to provide assistance to residents to build their houses," he continued,

This situation also has an impact on the daily activities of residents, especially children who have difficulty going to school and parents who cannot work as usual. In fact, there are still many residents who sleep in refugee camps such as mosques, to ride at relatives' homes.

Regarding the communication between PLN and the affected residents, Aziz said it had indeed been going on. However, the stages that are running are considered too slow.

"Communication has been done. But now it is still in the verification stage and so on. I don't think it should be done in two weeks for companies like PLN. This is not a simple cleaning process. It's a long time. Clean it first. Later supply tools or supply people," he said.

This PKS politician also asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to intervene. He encouraged Governor Pramono Anung to advocate for residents and accelerate coordination with PLN.

"We hope that the Governor can directly intervene, advocate for our residents in Jatipulo. So that they can directly contact PLN. So that assistance in the form of construction for their homes is rushed," concluded Aziz.
