Hundreds Of Flood Victims In Bireuen Need Refugee Tents
BIREUEN - Hundreds of flood victims who fled in Meunasah Gampong Blang Panjoe, Peusangan District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh need a tent.
Abu Bakar, the coordinator of the refugee meunasah Gampong Blang Panjoe, in Bireuen, Tuesday, said that in the house of worship there were 700 residents who were displaced flood victims.
"Refuges in this meunasah need tents. Indeed, there are several tents that have been established, but the refugees continue to grow in this place," said Abu Bakar as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 2.
He said the refugees in Meunasah were not only from gampong or local villages, but also from several other villages in Peusangan District.
In addition to tents, said Abu Bakar, other urgent needs are basic needs such as rice and side dishes. As well as clean water for toiletries, washing, toilets (MCK).
"Indeed, there is a distribution of clean water from PDAM, but it is not sufficient because of the large number of refugees. We also hope that there will be assistance for the needs of elderly and toddler refugees," he said.
Regarding the public kitchen, Abu Bakar said that there were already available volunteers managed by the Bireuen District Social Service Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana). Public kitchens provide food for disaster victims every day.
He said the evacuation in Meunasah had been going on since last week. It is estimated that the flood victims have been in refugee camps for a long time because their houses are still buried.
"We don't know when we will return home because most of our houses are buried in flood material mud and not yet cleaned by adults. Likewise with road access in residential areas, it is still muddy as adults," he said.
The community, said Abu Bakar, hopes that the local government will help clean up the mud, so that they can return to their homes. Because, if you clean it up individually, the community certainly can't afford it.
"If it is cleaned individually, it will take a long time and the costs are not small. Therefore, we hope that the local government will immediately help clean up the mud in the houses of flood victims," he said.
