Menpora Asks Indonesian Padel Management To Submit Roadmaps

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, asked the Executive Board of Padel Indonesia (PBPI) to immediately submit a roadmap to prepare for a long achievement in the future.

The request was conveyed by Erick Thohir when receiving an audience with the General Chairperson of PBPI, Galih Kartasasmita, who was present with other administrators and the Indonesian Men's and Women's National Team at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Office on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Erick said that the recent developmental charts show that the potential of the sport in the future can appear in various multi-branch events so that Indonesia needs to make preparations from a long time ago.

"We ask for the Raodmap because we at the Ministry of Youth and Sports no longer rely solely on talking," said Erick during an audience.

The existence of a roadmap will provide a structured picture of direction, steps, and priorities in achieving the final goals that can be achieved by the padel, especially achievements in various important events in the future.

Earlier, in the middle of last month, the padel was officially announced as one of the sports to be competed in the 2026 Asian Games which took place at Aichi' Nagoya, Japan.

Erick emphasized that the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports will encourage all sports, including padels, to be able to submit roadmaps in preparation for multi-branch events, such as the SEA Games, Asian Games and the Olympics.

"I hope that the pawns that are currently trending will continue to improve towards higher achievements. For the athletes, prepare yourself. If there is an Asian Games later, I hope it can be solid and continue to excel," he said.

PBPI previously ran four national circuits and participated in the international event at the FIP Asia Cup 2025 Qatar by winning a bronze medal from the National Team of the Indonesian Women's Pedel.

The chairman of PBPI, Galih Kartasasmita, said that what was even more encouraging was the achievement of the Indonesian Women's National Team in its debut appearance at the FIP Asia Cup 2025 which was attended by 18 countries.

"Alamidulillah, even though it is still new, our women's team has won bronze, the champion is Japan. The strength of Asian women is arguably the second in Iran and the third in Indonesia," said Galih.
