Untirta Students Sentenced To 3 Months Of Destruction Of Police Posts At The End Of August
SERANG - The Panel of Judges at the Serang District Court (PN), Banten Province, sentenced one student at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta), Jonathan Rahardian Susiloputra, to three months in prison for the destruction of the Traffic Police Post in Serang City.
Public Relations of the Serang District Court, Moch Ichwanudin, confirmed the decision. The defendant was declared legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act and damaged state property that occurred during a demonstration in Serang City in August 2025.
"The crime against the defendant is therefore imprisonment for three months," said Ichwanudin as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 2.
He explained that the verdict was handed down after the judge considered various aspects. What is burdensome is the defendant's act of causing state losses to the assets of the Serang City Police Traffic Unit which is estimated at Rp150 million.
However, the panel of judges also considered mitigating matters. The defendant was considered cooperative, admitted his mistake, and had apologized to the police.
"The status of the defendant who is still studying in the seventh semester and his health condition that requires regular treatment is also a consideration for the judge," he said.
Ichwan added that the sentence period would be completely reduced by the period of detention that the defendant had served during the legal process.
Meanwhile, another defendant in the same case file, Fathan Nurma'arif, has not received a verdict. The verdict reading trial for Fathan is scheduled to be held next week, Tuesday (9/12).
