PLN Ensures Reliability Of The Electricity System Ahead Of Nataru, Kaltara's East Kalimantan Interconnection Project Is Almost 100 Percent

TANJUNG REDEP PLN ensures the readiness of electricity infrastructure in East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan (Kaltara) ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) celebrations in a safe condition.

Moreover, all the main work of transmission and substations (GI) has been completed and is ready to distribute energy to remote areas.

This was tied up by the General Manager of PLN UIP KLT, Basuki Widodo, after visiting GI Tanjung Redeb, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, Tuesday, December 2.

"From the reliability of the system and the readiness of the infrastructure, we have prepared everything. Friends from UID (Distribution Main Unit) and P3B or the Burden Regulatory Center have also checked the end," said Basuki.

Basuki explained that PLN had focused on building transmission networks and GI since the beginning of the project began in 2019 with a total budget disbursed until 2025 for two transmission lines reaching around Rp 600 billion.

"Because it's still under contract, we haven't been able to go into further details. However, the total is around Rp600 billion for the two lines," he said.

Basuki said, before the interconnection transmission was built, the electricity supply in the interior of East Kalimantan was very limited.

"Many areas still depend on Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) whose capacities are not adequate," he said.

"That's often lacking, with the operation of this transmission, the distribution to the farthest point can be passed and we distribute it to the community," he continued.

He added that electricity interconnection in these two provinces is not only for residents, but also for accelerating economic equity, especially with the entry of the industrial sector and the growth of MSMEs.

"Everything now uses electricity. We hope that the presence of this interconnection will boost people's economic growth," he said.
