After Being Confiscated By The KPK, Ridwan Kamil Claims To Buy A Mercedes Benz 280 SL BJ Habibie Using Personal Money

JAKARTA - Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil claims to have never received money from alleged corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR).

He said all the assets confiscated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) were bought using personal money, including Mercedes 280 SL belonging to the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia B. J. Habibie. This was conveyed by Ridwan Kamil after undergoing examination as a witness at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, December 2.

"Well, because I don't know then everything that has been crowded is and a person. Personal funds themselves, so there is no relationship with the case that is being discussed. That's roughly the case," Ridwan Kamil told reporters at the location.

"All personal funds. That is the truth that I convey," he continued.

The KPK is known to have confiscated a number of assets belonging to Ridwan Kamil while investigating allegations of corruption at Bank BJB. Apart from the Mercedes Benz 280 SL, investigators also brought a Royal Enfield motorbike from his house after conducting a search.

The motorbike is now in the KPK's Looted Goods Storage House (Rupakasan). Meanwhile, Mercedes Benz, which was purchased from family B. J. Habibie, was returned.

This collection was carried out after the KPK examined B. J Habibie's son, Ilham Habibie some time ago. The reason is, Ridwan Kamil has not paid off the car and the money that has been given has been returned to investigators.

The entire asset was then allegedly purchased by the KPK using non-budget funds.

This non-budgeter fund is the difference in paying for the procurement of advertisements for Bank BJB returned by the tender winning company. The management is called the KPK carried out by the corporate secretary (corsec) section.

Previously reported, the KPK has named five suspects in connection with allegations of corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR).

They are former President Director of Bank BJB Yuddy Renaldi; Head of Bank BJB Corporate Secretary Division Widi Hartoto; Agency Controller Antedja Muliatama and Cakrawala Kreasi Mandiri Kin Asikin Dulmanan; Agency Controller BSC Advertising and PT Wahana Semesta Bandung Ekspres (WSBE) Suhendrik; and Controller of PT Cipta Karya Sukses Bersama (CKSB) and PT Cipta Karya Mandiri Bersama (CKMB) Raden Sophan Jaya Kusuma.

This case investigation warrant (sprindik) was issued on February 27, 2025. The actions of the five suspects are suspected of having caused the state to lose up to Rp22 billion.

Currently, the detention has not been carried out on five suspects. However, they have been prevented from traveling abroad for six months and can be extended according to the needs of the investigation.
