Minister Maman Gets Ministry Of Home Affairs And Kemenpora Optimizing Stadium Management For MSMEs
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) regarding synergy and collaboration in the management and utilization of central and regional sports facilities and infrastructure.
MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman hopes that this cross-ministerial cooperation will open up space for sports clubs and MSME entrepreneurs to be more empowered in their respective regions.
"Pilot projects will be implemented in 20 stadiums and will be expanded not only for football, but also for various other sports," Maman said in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 2.
The scope of this memorandum of understanding includes the integration of data on central and regional sports facilities, spatial arrangement and partnership facilitation to optimize the utilization of sports facilities, and strengthen the capacity of MSMEs involved in the sports ecosystem.
All of this is directed at strengthening regional economic foundations through collaboration and the use of sustainable sports facilities.
In the event which was also attended by regional heads online, Maman emphasized that this agreement was an implementation of the President's directive to strengthen the central collaboration of the private sector in order to encourage economic growth.
"I believe the sports industry can be a strong foundation for the development of MSMEs, given the large fan base and potential for its multiplier effect," he said.
Maman also said that the economic value of the Indonesian sports industry is estimated to reach around IDR 41 trillion per year until 2024, a great opportunity that can grow faster if supported by appropriate policies and a strong ecosystem.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, assessed that this memorandum of understanding is very important to answer the challenges of using a stadium that has been less than optimal and is often a burden on costs for the region. He emphasized that with a good arrangement and the presence of MSMEs in it, the stadium could develop into a new economic center.
Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir conveyed this understanding that it could help regional heads who have long-term economic vision.
He highlighted the potential for global sport tourism which reached US$481 billion as an opportunity that Indonesia could catch.
"With the legal umbrella of the Permendagri that is already available, implementation is the next very crucial step, it's just a matter of how to implement it," he said.
