Nearly Two Million Medical Devices For Handling COVID-19 Have Been Distributed

JAKARTA - The Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 has distributed most of the medical materials used in handling COVID-19 throughout Indonesia.

Medical devices in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools for checking COVID-19 come from purchases of imports, domestic production, to donations from various parties and agencies.

Deputy Operations Assistant to the TNI Commander Marsama Jorry S. Koloay explained that the total PPE distributed was 1,826,000, 3,000 protective glasses, 846,334 surgical masks, 38,000 N95 masks, 285,000 rapid test kits, and 402,000 medical gloves.

"The composition of the goods received is based on existing data and we have collected from the logistics team, from March 22 to April 28 at 23.30 WIB," said Jorry during a press conference at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Thursday, April 30.

Most of the medical devices have been distributed. As of today, the remaining medical devices that will be distributed are 334,600 PPE, 71,500 surgical masks and 98 medical gloves. Meanwhile, medical equipment, protective glasses, surgical masks, and rapid test kits have all been distributed.

Joory continued, this medical device has been distributed throughout the region, including hospitals for handling COVID-19, emergency hospitals, and health centers.

DKI is the province that gets the most PPE with a total of 238,050 pcs. Then, West Java received 124,000 PPE, Central Java 80,700 pieces, East Java 102,600 pieces, DIY 30,700 pieces, Bali 42,400 pieces, and Banten 65,100 pieces.

"Then, PPE deliveries to other areas are on average between 25,000 and 40,000 PPE," he said.

Then, the government has distributed PCR and RNA reagents to 9 provinces. There are 67,000 PCR reagents distributed today, and 92,500 RNA reagents.

A reagent is a type of liquid used to support PCR swab test testing. Reagents are usually added to see chemical reactions, one of which is in the diagnosis of corona virus infection.

"It is hoped that, within the next week, all types of PCR and RNA reagents can be distributed," he said.
