After The Rehabilitation Stage, The Minister Of Social Affairs Promises Huntara For Victims Of The Sumatra Disaster
Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul said the government was preparing temporary shelters (huntara) for flood and landslide victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, to West Sumatra.
"It is being prepared by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to prepare temporary housing, there is already a program. After that, permanent housing will be prepared as well. So there is temporary housing and permanent housing, it has become part of reconstruction and rehabilitation," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, confiscated by Antara.
Currently, the Minister of Social Affairs continued, the government is focusing on dealing with emergencies in the three provinces, considering that the search for victims is still ongoing and several areas are still isolated.
"If this emergency has subsided a bit later, temporary shelters and permanent housing will be built. Currently, we are in the evacuation stage and provide logistical support needed for the refugees or those affected. After that, we will start thinking now as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction," he said.
The Minister of Social Affairs also revealed that currently BNPB is calculating, planning, and mapping the field so that those who have lost their homes can get temporary shelter.
"At the same time, it will be discussed with local governments to build permanent housing, usually later areas that provide land or maybe use government-owned land. Then, later it will be built in stages, such as in Lumajang (East Java) or in other places, the same thing is done," he explained.
The Minister of Social Affairs does not deny that there are many obstacles that occur in the field, especially to evacuate people who are still isolated in places that are difficult to reach via land.
"In fact, there is a Mayor of Sibolga (North Sumatra) for up to 2 days he has only been able to get out of the landslides, so the problem is extraordinary. Yesterday I accompanied the President to several points there, of course his condition has started to improve," he said.
The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to strengthen support for flood-affected residents in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Until yesterday, Monday (1/12), the total value of bufferstock logistics assistance that has been distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the three provinces reached around Rp. 14.5 billion.
