Farmers Can Take Special Trains, Tariffs Are Only IDR 3,000

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has officially operated Farmers and Traders Trains on the Commuter Line Merak service since yesterday. The travel rate is set at IDR 3,000, the same as the general passenger fare on KRL.

KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the presence of Farmer Trains and Traders reflects the national railway's ability to provide relevant services for the community.

"This train is designed by our experts at Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng. Every detail is prepared so that the journey is safe, comfortable, and remains organized, so that farmers and traders can market products more easily," said Anne in an official statement, Tuesday, December 2.

Anne said, farmers and traders can access the transportation very affordablely because the tariffs charged are subsidized by the government, in this case, the Ministry of Transportation's DJKA through the Public Service Obligation (PSO) scheme.

Anne emphasized that the subsidy support ensures that this service remains affordable and supports the economic activities of the community, especially those that depend on rail-based public transportation.

"The travel rate is set at Rp. 3,000, the same as the general passenger fare on KRL, through the PSO scheme from the government," he said.

Anne said the train of farmers and traders has a capacity of 73 seats and baggage areas that are arranged according to user needs. This service is coupled to 14 Commuter Line Merak trips every day.

Consisting of seven Merak'Rangkasbitung trips and seven Rangkasbitung 'Merak trips. The entire trip served 11 stations, namely Rangkasbitung-Jambu Baru-Catang-Cikuesal-Walantaka-Serang-Kariangantu-Tonjong Baru-Cilegon-Krenng-Merak.

Pengguna dapat membawa maksimal dua koli barang berukuran 100 cm x 40 cm x 30 cm. Untuk menggunakan layanan ini, pelanggan wajib melakukan registerat Kartu Petani dan Pedagang di loket station wilayah Commuter Line Merak, ujarnya.

Anne said cardholders can buy tickets starting D-7 and board earlier up to two hours before scheduled departure. Meanwhile, users who do not have a card can still buy tickets on the day of the trip if the quota is still available.

On the first day of operation, 12,391 users used the Commuter Line Merak, including 95 Farmer Train users and traders. Congenital goods are dominated by processed food, agricultural products, and handicrafts to meet market needs in Serang, Cilegon, and Merak," he said.

For your information, the Trains of farmers and traders are the result of collaboration between the KAI Group and the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to facilitate the flow of distribution of agricultural products and local trade in Banten.

The entire process of designing and modifying the facilities was carried out by Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng, starting from interior arrangements, baggage rooms, to travel support systems to meet the needs of farmers and traders.

Train facilities have undergone a series of technical tests, certification, installation of safety signatures, and adjustment of access to and from stations. All of these preparations ensure comfort, security, and regular movement of goods and passengers.
