Operation At Patimban Subang Port, Cirebon Lanal Seizes 41,280 Sports Clothes Without Documents

JAKARTA - The Cirebon Navy Base (Lanal) uncovered the smuggling practice of tens of thousands of sports clothing without customs documents with a state loss value of Rp. 1.8 billion during operations at Patimban Port, Subang, West Java, Sunday, November 30 in the morning.

Cirebon Lanal Commander Lieutenant Marine Colonel (P) Faisal Yanova Tanjung said the prosecution was carried out after the team received accurate intelligence information about vehicles suspected of carrying illegal goods from the Passenger Motorboat (KMP) on the Pontianak-Patimban route.

He explained that the operation began at around 04.00 WIB on Sunday, November 30, when the team received reports of trucks suspected of transporting illegal cargo. Furthermore, the blocking was carried out at the exit access of Patimban Port.

At 04.45 WIB, officers inspected a truck with license plate number F 8810 HL and found thousands of sports clothes of various types without official documents.

"The vehicle was then taken to the Cirebon Lanal Mako at 06.00 WIB for further investigation," said Danlanal when releasing the disclosure of the case in Cirebon, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the truck's cargo contained about 41,280 pieces of sports clothing without valid customs documents so that the value of state losses was estimated at Rp1.8 billion.

The evidence that was secured included Spacewalk trousers,Joger Reytorrm, anti-UV sports jackets, and women's special sports jackets wearing hijabs.

From the initial inspection, the truck driver with the initials KS admitted that he received a transport order from an expedition committee in Pontianak to send the goods to a warehouse in the Kosambi area, Tangerang.

"The expedition manager with the initials GG then confirmed that the clothes came from Malaysia and were taken using the cross-border rat route. Goods were dropped in the Ayak Satu River area, Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan," he said.

Faisal said the information corroborates allegations of violations in the customs sector that have harmed the country and endangered maritime security.

His party noted that the value of the confiscated clothing was estimated at IDR 6.1 billion, calculated from the average price of IDR 150 thousand per piece with a total of around 41,280 pieces of goods.

"This action is a form of Lanal Cirebon's commitment to preventing illegal activities in our working area and supporting government programs in strengthening maritime security," he said.

He added that all evidence and drivers are now being secured at the Cirebon Mako Lanal and his party has coordinated with the local Customs Office for further legal proceedings.

The case violates Article 102 of Law Number 17 of 2006 concerning Customs, which carries a penalty of imprisonment of one to 10 years and a fine of IDR 50 million to IDR 5 billion.

Faisal emphasized that the Cirebon Lanal will continue to increase supervision of loading and unloading activities in its area, especially at points that have the potential to become an entry route for illegal goods.
