Menkomdigi Meutya Ensures Signals At Disaster Locations Recover 90 Percent
JAKARTA - In a coordination meeting with the Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, cellular operators revealed that the recovery of telecommunications services in West Sumatra and North Sumatra reached 90 percent.
Meutya said that the recovery of communication services is still a priority for the government to ensure the needs of residents and coordination of disaster management continue.
"The cellular operators reported that 95 percent of the recovery in West Sumatra had recovered and North Sumatra was 90 percent. For Aceh, the electricity constraint still causes about 60 percent of the towers to be out of operation," Meutya said in an official broadcast Tuesday, December 2.
Recovery in Aceh is targeted to increase significantly in the next four days in line with the improvement in electricity supply by PLN. The government is also working with the TNI to accelerate the delivery of repair materials to hard-to-reach areas.
Furthermore, Meutya also emphasized that the government together with operators and PLN are still working together so that services will return to normal soon.
As of Monday, December 1 at 00.00 WIB, the total number of towers experiencing disruption in three provinces amounted to 2,804 towers, consisting of 1,969 towers in Aceh, 681 in North Sumatra, and 154 in West Sumatra.
